Tuesday Thoughts

Thoughts of an Optimistic Writer

When polled, 80% of Americans say, “I have a book in me.” Count me in.

This blog is titled Tuesday Thoughts, written to give you a taste of my writing style. I will not spout vitriol or political bias, as there’s plenty of that available on other sites. I’ll keep the entries at about 1,200 words or less, as I want to be respectful of your time.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments and, if you like the blog, please recommend it to your friends. The most recent post immediately follows this Welcome.

Remember—when we stop reading, we stop learning.

Thanks for visiting!

Wishing you all the best,

Tim

Tuesday Thoughts: Don’t We Deserve the Truth?

“You want answers? … I want the truth! … You can’t handle the truth.”

–from A Few Good Men

President Biden spent the lion’s share of the presidential campaign bunkered in his basement and castigating Mr. Trump for his management of the Covid pandemic. Give him credit: it worked.

When he won the election, I was at least hopeful that a moderate president with a less inflammatory personality would […]

Tuesday Thoughts: Ready for a “Feel Good” Story?

“Be the person your dog thinks you are.”

–J.W. Stephens

Whew; what we’ve been through since the presidential election! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not exactly equivalent to the Brits enduring the Nazi Blitz or the Chinese government’s detention of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang.

It was unsettling, nonetheless, to witness a mob of angry Americans breaking into the seat of our government and, now, the ongoing political bickering back […]

Tuesday Thoughts: What’s Wrong with Washington, and Right with America?

Lucy: “I’ll hold the ball, Charlie Brown, and you come running up and kick it”…Charlie: “Every year she pulls the same trick on me!”

–from the Peanuts football comic strip (Charles Schulz)

Recent events in Washington, D.C. and Hong Kong compelled me to change today’s post to discuss both.

To see what’s wrong with Washington, D.C., look no further than Congress and its handling of the most recent stimulus […]

Tuesday Thoughts: Waiting

“…those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength…they will run and not be weary; they will walk and not faint.”

–Isaiah 40:31

There hasn’t been much to laugh about this year, but I had to chuckle when I heard the reason members of Congress were offered the Covid-19 vaccine in its first week of availability was because they were deemed to be essential workers. You can’t make this stuff up! […]
