Tuesday Thoughts

Thoughts of an Optimistic Writer

When polled, 80% of Americans say, “I have a book in me.” Count me in.

This blog is titled Tuesday Thoughts, written to give you a taste of my writing style. I will not spout vitriol or political bias, as there’s plenty of that available on other sites. I’ll keep the entries at about 1,200 words or less, as I want to be respectful of your time.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments and, if you like the blog, please recommend it to your friends. The most recent post immediately follows this Welcome.

Remember—when we stop reading, we stop learning.

Thanks for visiting!

Wishing you all the best,

Tim

The event was hosted by Community Culinary School of Charlotte, and today’s focus will be on the school. It’s a workforce development program that provides training and job placement assistance in the food service industry for its students.

The […]

Tuesday Thoughts: Why Are Men (and Women) Behaving So Badly?

“We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.”

–President Lincoln’s First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861

“I knew the person I nominated would be put through a painful and difficult confirmation process. But I have to tell you, what (she) was put through was well beyond that. The […]

Tuesday Thoughts: Where Did We Go Astray? Part 3: The Solution’s At Our Front Doors

“If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.”

–Author unknown

If you’d been aboard when Lost in Space debuted 57 years ago, only to return today, would you recognize our current society? Consider the following:

• The feds have decided our passports can be labeled “Gender X.”

• A young man decides he’s a woman and […]

Tuesday Thoughts: Where Did We Go Astray? Part 2: How We Get Back

“I am the Lord your God…You shall have no other gods before me.”

–Exodus 20: 2-3

Two weeks ago, we looked at dedicated Olympic athletes and how they handled victory and defeat, and how that reflected on our societal values.

Just to be clear, in no way am I against an individual dedicating his or her time and talent to a sport, as long as […]
